In exchange for the release of the Federal University Wukari students in Taraba State, the abductors are asking for a ransom of N50m.

Mrs. Ashu Agbu, the Head of Information and Protocol Unit of the institution, shared this information during a phone call with journalists on Sunday.

During the conversation, she mentioned, “The abductors stated that their target was the eatery owner, not the staff, and they plan to come back for him.”

“They have set the ransom at N50m for the release of the two students. Following the incident, security forces and local youths have been searching the nearby forests and paths to capture the kidnappers. They are determined to rescue the students safely,” she added.

Agbu indicated that a meeting involving security agencies, and local, state, and Federal Government representatives, will take place on Monday, April 8, to address the ongoing security challenges at the institution.

It was noted that a significant majority of the students and staff at the institution reside off-campus.

The students were abducted on Wednesday, April 3, around 10:00 pm from a shop near a bustling area where students living off-campus frequently visit.
