The watches evaluated included five models specifically designed for the older demographic, offering simple interfaces and discreet designs. The line-up also included the Apple Watch and a model from Samsung, representing more mainstream options. The prices ranged from 239 to nearly 400 Swiss Francs, with some models requiring a subscription for emergency services.

The Winner and Losers

The 'James Sicherheitsuhr B7' emerged as the top pick. It was praised for its user-friendly single-button operation and the ability to store up to ten emergency contacts. However, its sensitive fall sensor was cited as a potential issue, as it could trigger false alarms. The Doro Watch was the least successful, primarily because it required a Doro mobile phone to function and proved unreliable in conveying SOS signals to the handset. Other models like the Smartwatcher and Limmex versions encountered issues during telephone communication.

Concerns and Challenges

The TCL and Samsung watches, though boasting good sound quality and displays, were found to be complex in operation. Concerns were also raised about Limmex's customer service and misleading replacement offers. The need for additional information for registration and troubleshooting technical issues was another challenge highlighted in the test.
