It's tough to pinpoint exactly where the coupe SUV trend began, but it's hard not to credit BMW as the originator, at least in the modern sense. The first-generation X6 introduced BMW's sports activity coupe concept to the world, and countless automakers have attempted to copy it for years. Now in its third generation, the 2025 BMW X6 M stands as the ultimate iteration of the coupe SUV. Or does it? There are countless other ridiculously fast crossovers with big engines, many of which also possess sloping rooflines like a two-door car. BMW even sells its own M-branded flagship called the XM, which nearly outsold the X6 last year despite being a lot more expensive. Nearly two decades since its inception, is the X6 M still a staple in BMW's lineup?
