  • The air mattress sits neatly in the rear of the electric SUV and includes a pump and repair patches.
  • When not in use, the mattress can be stowed in the rear storage area.
  • It’s unclear when Tesla will restock the mattress or if it’ll be sold outside of North America.

There probably aren’t all that many Tesla Model Y owners who plan to go camping in their EVs, but if they did, then Tesla would gladly sell them a bespoke air mattress to fit inside. The only problem is that barely a day after launching, the air mattress has already sold out.

Tesla launched the mattress through its North American store, asking $225 for it. While that’s a lot for an air mattress, it’s not exorbitantly expensive for an official accessory that could be quite handy. At the time of writing, it was unclear when the mattress would be back in stock in the US or if it would be sold in other markets.

The key difference between this mattress and one you’ll find at a camping store is that it has been designed to fit perfectly across the cabin of the Model Y when the rear seats are folded down. It’s also compatible with both five- and seven-seat versions of the SUV. It’s made of three-inch, high-density foam and has a polyester exterior, meaning it’s waterproof and durable.

Those who were able to buy the mattress before it sold out also got a carry bag, an air pump, and two repair patches. When not in use, the mattress can be deflated and neatly stowed in the rear storage area beneath the floor.

Other official accessories for the Model Y include a set of $500 roof racks, $225 all-weather interior liners, and $95 floor mats. A pet liner to drape across the seats is also offered for $145. The EV can also be purchased with $250 illuminated door sills, an $85 parcel shelf, sunshades, mudflaps, a ski and snowboard carrier, and locking wheel nuts.
