Hello,

I promised to talk on breast cancer......I didn't forget...I have been occupied with some stuff.

Do you know your body is made up of cells? Yes, there are numerous cells found within the body...The breast being part of the body contains some cells too...

When these cells found in the breast begin to grow abnormally, it gives rise to breast cancer.....it occurs mostly in women, rarely in men.

The cause of breast cancer is not known but there are some factors that can predispose or expose one to breast cancer such as;

*Genetic:it runs in some family.If you have any of your relation/relations that suffered from or is suffering breast cancer, you need to watch yourself because you are at risk..

* Increase in age

*If you have had breast lumps, you are at risk. Though not all lumps are cancerous..

*Overweight

*Exposure to radiation

*Frequent alcohol consumption and others...

The important thing for you to take home is how to perform BREAST SELF EXAMINATION (BSE). BSE is a check up done to feel the breast, observe any changes and act accordingly...

You are expected to do this every month after your menstrual period...

Things to look out for;

*A breast lump

*Obvious change in size, shape and appearance

*Redness of the breast

*Pain around the armpit or breast

Newly inverted nipple

*Discharge from nipple possibly containing blood...

If you notice any of these, pls see a doctor..

Below is a picture on how BSE is done, pls learn and practice (smiling emojis)

Do you know there is vaccine that can prevent cervical cancer????Story for another day...
