LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

Phil Parkinson

Wrexham have not made a managerial change, with Parkinson preparing his players for their next Championship fixture.

Parkinson, 58, is said to retain an excellent relationship with the ownership group, which includes Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Wrexham's latest setback came at home against West Brom, who departed with a 2-1 victory.

The defeat increased the importance of the weekend meeting with Preston, giving Parkinson's players an immediate opportunity to respond.

Scott Parker is also in the running to take over at Wrexham

Speaking ahead of that fixture, the Wrexham boss made clear he wanted attention directed towards the next challenge rather than the disappointment of the previous result.

Parkinson said: "It’s not what’s just happened, it’s what you do going ahead, and that’s what we’ve been working towards as a staff.

"I can’t wait for the weekend and excited about the challenge of the game which lies ahead.

"When you’ve lost at home and you’ve got a team coming here who’s struggling, every game presents a different challenge and I’m really looking forward to seeing the response."
