  • This new version of the Fiat-based Abarth Pulse has a special Stranger Things theme.
  • Production of the sporty crossover will be capped at 511 examples for Latin America.

Automakers teaming up with Hollywood studios to promote their models through popular movies or TV shows is nothing new. For instance, six years ago, Hyundai released an Iron Man special edition of the Kona.

Now, Fiat has launched its own limited-edition crossover through a partnership with Netflix, celebrating the fifth season of Stranger Things. Based on the Abarth Pulse, it will be sold in Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina.

Introduced a few years ago, the Abarth Pulse is a sportier version of the standard Fiat model. It may not be dripping in appeal, but it is powered by a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder delivering 185 hp and 199 lb-ft (270 Nm) of torque, enough to send it to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.6 seconds.

To celebrate the series, Fiat will apply special graphics and interior parts to 511 examples of the Abarth Pulse. The model, available in either red with a black roof or all black, comes with contrasting graphics running down the sides with a small Stranger Things logo.

Models finished in red also include black door mirrors, black window frames, and a black roof, while the black model includes red wing mirrors and a red front splitter.

The graphic running down the side does look a bit like a cheap tribal tattoo, but it will probably appeal to some buyers.

A Strange Theme

Other special touches made to the cabin include black leather with a unique pattern on the backrests, and a Stranger Things logo in red, complementing the red contrast stitching.

Fiat has also added a numbered badge to the dashboard. Completing the upgrades is a Stranger Things badge on the plastic engine cover and special scuff plates.

“Fiat is proud to participate in moments that define generations, and Stranger Things is one of those cultural milestones,” vice president of marketing and brand communication for Stellantis South America, Alessandra Souza said.

“The Pulse Stranger Things carries all the synergy present in this partnership – blending the series’ mysterious world with our brand’s rebellious and emotional spirit.”

Market-specific pricing details for the new model have yet to be announced.
