“Some DMed Me Saying They Were Crushing on Me” – Akwaboah on Losing Female Fans After Marriage

Ghanaian singer and songwriter, Gladstorm Kwabena Akwaboah Jnr, professionally known as Akwaboah Jnr, has opened up about losing some of his female fans after getting married last year.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Adom TV, the Highlife musician confirmed that some female fans expressed disappointment after he tied the knot. According to him, a few ladies even reached out to him through his social media platforms to share how they had admired or crushed on him.

“Some came to my DM on Facebook and Instagram to express their disappointment and shock that I’m married. In fact, the day I got married, OMG—the comments!” he said with a laugh.

Akwaboah explained that it is normal to lose admirers when one gets married, drawing comparisons to similar situations in churches and other areas of life.

“Oh, it’s normal. It happens everywhere—even in church when a pastor marries, some members leave. You know, there’s a difference between talent and character. When you use your talent or gift, it attracts a lot of people, but your character sets things apart,” he explained.

The ‘Obiaa’ hitmaker further added that despite the reactions, he believes some of those fans will eventually return because of their love for his music.

“Some have been very supportive, and I believe those who left will surely come back because they love my songs,” he said.
