“She Was To Marry In Two Months” — Pastor Paul Enenche Condemns Robbery That Cut Short Somtochukwu Maduagwu’s Life

The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, has mourned the death of Arise Television anchor, Somtochukwu Maduagwu, following a robbery attack at her residence in Abuja. Her tragic passing has sparked widespread outrage and sorrow across the country.

Speaking during the Commanding the Day midnight prayer session, Enenche condemned the incident, describing the perpetrators as “beasts” who would never go unpunished.

“In the last three days, there was a very terrible robbery attack in a neighborhood here in the FCT, which led to the death of a young lady, vibrant, full of life, and a broadcaster (Somtochukwu Maduagwu),” he said.

“I was told today that her fiancé, who was to marry her in just two months, wept like a baby. Such pain, such loss! These are not human beings, these are animals, beasts, that killed this innocent person. Human lives cannot be wasted like this. Precious talents cannot be cut short like this. And these killers, they will never go free. They will never escape. The blood of the innocent will cry out against them and pursue them to their graves, in the name of Jesus. They will never go free, in Jesus’ name.”

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has also called for a full investigation into her death, which occurred as she tried to escape an armed robbery attack at her residence in Katampe, Abuja.

In a statement signed by its President, Mr. Afam Osigwe, SAN, the NBA described the circumstances of her death as cruel and senseless, highlighting the worsening insecurity in the country and deficiencies in its healthcare system.

“Reports indicate that Somtochukwu lost her life while trying to avoid an armed robbery attack in the supposed safety of her home. That such a cruel and senseless act could occur, leaving her fatally wounded in her own residence, is both devastating and unacceptable,” the statement read.

The association further suggested that medical negligence may have contributed to her death, noting that her chances of survival were compromised by the failure of a hospital to respond with urgency.

“It is unacceptable that in addition to battling rising insecurity, Nigerians must also contend with a healthcare system that too often fails them in their hour of greatest need,” the NBA said.
