She travelled on the 22nd of December. She said she was going to spend Christmas with her parents, so I gave her some money and she left. We were talking, not constantly, but we talked sufficiently enough for two people in a relationship.

I went to church on the 31st night. Before I went, I called and we talked. She told me she wasn’t feeling well so she wouldn’t go to church. After service, I called to wish her a happy new year, but she didn’t pick up. I called several times before I got home, but she didn’t pick up.

I texted, “Are you alright? Please call back.” She didn’t respond. I went to sleep, woke up around 5 a.m., and called again. She picked up, sounding like I’d woken her up from the dead. “Yes, what is it?”

“I’ve been calling you since last night. I was going to wish you a happy ne…”

She screamed, “All those calls because of a happy new year wish? Was I not going to wake up, that you had to disturb my night with those silly calls? What’s wrong with you?”

And then she cut the call.

I was stunned. I looked at my phone wondering if she was the one I was talking to. I checked the number. I went through our text messages. I was looking for something that said, “You called the wrong line.” The shock turned to anger. I decided I was never going to call her again until she calls to apologize.

I texted in the afternoon, “So you’re feeling too big to apologize, right?” She was typing. After several minutes of typing, she sent, “I forgot to block you here.” And bam, I was blocked.

That’s how I lost a one-year relationship on New Year’s Day. Diana, Diana, Diana…how many times did I call you? God is the judge, and you won’t escape His judgment for the way you treated me.
