The Chairman Senate Committee on Agriculture and lawmaker representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Senator Saliu Mustapha, has commenced the distribution of 3,500 fertilisers and farm inputs to various farmers associations across his constituency.

The distribution exercise, which took place at the Senator’s constituency office in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, brought together beneficiaries from across the four local government of Kwara Central Senatorial District.

Speaking during the distribution exercise, Senator Saliu Mustapha said the initiative is driven by mission to support President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and a commitment to enhancing food sufficiency.

Senator Mustapha, who was represented by his executive assistant, Barrister Alabi Abdulkareem revealed that the benefiting farmers’ associations include the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Amana Farmers, Nigerian Women for Agricultural Progress, Nigerian Association of Women in Agriculture, and the Kwara State Chamber of Commerce (Agric Sector), among others.

He urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the items provided, noting that they are meant to enhance agricultural productivity and improve livelihoods.
The senator, however pledged continued support for farmers and promised to explore other initiatives to benefit his constituents.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke at the event appreciated Senator Saliu Mustapha for his consistent support to farmers in his constituency. They added that Senator Mustapha’s interventions have continued to reduce the financial burden on farmers and increase food production in the state.
