Saudi Arabia Approves Opening Childcare Centers Inside Workplaces

Saudi Arabia has introduced a new initiative allowing childcare and kindergarten facilities to be established inside government and private workplaces with large employee populations, as part of broader efforts to support families and improve work environments.

The decision was coordinated between the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, and other relevant authorities in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

According to details published in Umm Al-Qura Newspaper, the Saudi Cabinet introduced a series of regulations and operational guidelines aimed at ensuring the successful implementation of workplace childcare centers.

The initiative focuses on simplifying licensing procedures, developing specialized regulations, and addressing organizational challenges related to opening and operating nurseries inside work environments.

Authorities also emphasized the importance of aligning kindergarten schedules with varying work hours across government entities, educational institutions, and private companies to encourage employees to enroll their children in workplace childcare facilities.

The decision further highlighted the need to provide sufficient financial, technical, and operational support, including larger operating budgets, infrastructure improvements, expanded internet services, and specialized childcare and cleaning staff.

In addition, organizations are encouraged to allocate suitable spaces and prepare the necessary infrastructure according to approved standards for early childhood facilities.

Officials believe the initiative will positively impact working families by creating more supportive and flexible work environments while improving early childhood care and education services.

The move reflects Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to strengthening family-focused policies and enhancing quality of life through initiatives centered on early childhood development and workforce participation.
