Award-winning Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie has surprisingly cleared the air over widespread speculation that he jabbed the likes of Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Asake, and Black Sheriff on his recent hip-hop song, “Brag”.

In the song, the Sarkcess Music boss states that he was in the rap game way before Wizkid came along.

He goes on to assert that by the time Davido showed up, he was already making a good name for himself with his skills and cementing his rap legacy, hence, none of them are his competition.

Sarkodie also references Burna Boy (Odogwu), Asake, and fellow Ghanaian rapper, Black Sherif in the song to make his point.

The BET award-winner emphasized that Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole are his true competition, not anyone from Africa.

While many decided to decode the above lyrics and concluded that Sarkodie had jabbed these top acts, in an exclusive interview with VoxAfrica, the “Country Side” hitmaker stated that it was never the case.

He indicated that the reference to them is only because they are the best-known African musicians in the world currently, and as such, if he wants to address the entire world, they are the best people to use.

King Sark added that he can never jab the likes of Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Asake, and Black Sheriff, because, for starters, they are not rappers.

Again, he stressed that Black Sheriff is his boy, so he would never jab him on any song.

Sarkodie was quick to add that if people want to make a point that he jabbed anyone, then they can say he jabbed rappers in Africa. After all, he never mentioned nor jabbed any of them because, in his view, none of them compares to him in any way.

Even though Sarkodie cleared the air on the whole brouhaha about jabbing other musicians, he disclosed that he was enjoying the organic PR the song has gotten so far, which gives him a lot of hope that when the full project is released on May 24, 2024, the world will enjoy it.

He further stated that he doubts that, as a team, they could have pulled this massive PR off if they had even sat down to plan it.
