Russia Responds to Trump’s Threats of Tariffs and Sanctions Over Ukraine War

Russia has reacted to warnings from former United States President Donald Trump, who threatened to impose tariffs and sanctions if Moscow does not “make a deal” soon and put an end to the war in Ukraine.

PulseNets learnt that Trump had stated he would have no choice but to implement “high levels of Taxes, Tariffs, and Sanctions” on Russian goods if President Vladimir Putin refuses to negotiate an end to the conflict in Ukraine.

In response to Trump’s remarks, Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin spokesman, addressed the matter, saying, “We do not see any particularly new elements here. He likes these methods, at least he liked them during his first presidency,” Peskov told reporters.

PulseNets reported that Russia maintained its stance, asserting there was nothing novel in Trump’s threats of sanctions and tariffs. Peskov reiterated that Moscow remains open to dialogue with the United States, provided it is conducted on an equal and mutually respectful basis.

Additionally, Russia’s Deputy United Nations Ambassador, Dmitry Polyanskiy, spoke to Reuters on Thursday, commenting on Trump’s proposal for a “deal.” He stated that much would depend on the specific meaning of such a deal.
