Rumors for the Day:

• Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer said WWE is planning to book Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn vs. Bron Breakker at SummerSlam on August 3.
• He also mentioned that CM Punk was not medically cleared to return to in-ring competition as of this Monday, but WWE expects he will be ready in time to fight Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam.
• Regarding Tony Khan’s ongoing negotiations for a new TV deal with Warner Bros Discovery, Meltzer concluded that “AEW would probably do well to start talking to other people, because we’re at that point now.” This is at least partially related to WBD’s announcement of nearly 1000 layoffs over the next week.
• Braun Strowman told WWE - Die Woche that his knee is “a little banged up” and that’s why his movements have been a little more sluggish on Raw over the last couple of weeks.
• According to Fightful Select, Sammy Guevara’s return to AEW television has been discussed in recent weeks.
• PW Insider confirmed that “work is already underway for the next season of Dark Side of the Ring.” Some of the potential subjects being discussed include Ludvig Borga, Dennis Coralluzo, and Billy Jack Haynes.
