Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk is the main event of WrestleMania 42

This has been a long time coming.

Remember when CM Punk left WWE all the way back in 2014 and did a tell all podcast where he kinda sorta buried Roman Reigns by outright saying he was forced to make him look strong in their feud? This was during a time that Reigns was struggling to get over, long before he became The Tribal Chief and the top star in all of professional wrestling.

Punk’s long journey back to WWE took a decade, and now that Reigns is indeed the crown jewel of the roster, the best thing they can do is put the two of them together on the grandest stage of them all. Well, wouldn’t you know it, Reigns won the Royal Rumble this year and Punk is the current world heavyweight champion.

So they got together for a back-and-forth battle on the microphone on Monday Night Raw in Philadelphia this week, under the pretense that Reigns had a choice to make over who he would challenge at WrestleMania 42. They took plenty of personal shots at each other but kept it all within the story. The crowd was ridiculously hot for it.

The choice was always clear.
