Ripple’s David Schwartz Exits CTO Role, Joins Board

David Schwartz, who has been Ripple’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for over 13 years, has announced that he will step down from his daily role by the end of this year.

Sharing this update in an X post, Schwartz shared his reflections back on his 40-year career, which included working with the NSA and observing Bitcoin’s early days. He hailed his time at Ripple as one of “the greatest honors” of his life, second only to his family.

He thanked Ripple’s leaders, including CEO Brad Garlinghouse, Monica Long, and Chris Larsen, as well as the RippleX team, developers, and the XRPL community for all that they have done for Ripple. Schwartz also praised Arthur Britto for his big ideas and the community for their hard work, which made the XRP Ledger successful.

Plans to stay active in the XRP community

In the same post, David Schwartz clarified that while he is stepping down from his CTO role, he will stay involved with the XRP community. He shared that he will be involved as CTO Emeritus and will join Ripple’s Board of Directors.

Further, Schwartz also shared his excitement about getting back to coding and working with developers. He stated that he has also been working on his own XRP Ledger node, sharing its data, and looking into new ways to use XRP beyond what Ripple is currently doing.

In a forward looking statement, Schwartz affirmed that he is optimistic about the future of the XRP Ledger, as he believes that the next generation of leaders, including Ripple’s Senior Vice President of Engineering, Dennis Jarosch, and other XRP community members, will continue to move the XRP Ledger forward. He also plans to attend XRP community events around the world to stay connected with developers and supporters.
