PSG star Hakimi says at ‘peace’ in spite of r@pe allegation

Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi, who is under investigation for an alleged r@pe, has spoken publicly about the case, saying he is calm and confident that he will ultimately be cleared. In an interview with journalist Mouloud Achour for the show Clique on Canal+, a clip of which aired Wednesday night, the 26-year-old Moroccan international denied any wrongdoing. I know that what I am accused of is a lie, Hakimi said in Spanish. I know that I have not done anything and that I would never do that. Today, I have peace of mind hoping that the truth will soon be revealed. French prosecutors last month requested that Hakimi stand trial on allegations that he raped a 24-year-old woman in February 2023. The woman claimed she met Hakimi through social media and that he invited her to his home in Boulogne-Billancourt, a suburb of Paris, while his then-wife and children were away on holiday. She went to a police station after the encounter, alleging r@pe, though she declined to make a formal complaint. Prosecutors nonetheless pursued charges, and Hakimi was indicted in March 2023. Hakimi, who has since divorced his wife, has maintained that he is the target of an extortion attempt. His accusers lawyer, Rachel-Flore Pardo, rejected that assertion on Thursday. Nothing in the case lends in any way to a characterising of extortion, she told AFP. Mr Hakimi is trying to create a counter-fire that we are used to in cases of sexual violence. On August 1, the Nanterre prosecutors office confirmed that it had formally requested the investigating judge send Hakimis case to a criminal court. Despite the legal battle, Hakimi has continued to feature for PSG and the Moroccan national team.
