President John Dramani Mahama has returned home from an official visit to France, undertaken at the invitation of his French counterpart, President Emmanuel Macron. 

The President arrived in Accra on Wednesday evening, April 8. 

During the visit, the two leaders held bilateral talks, in which they discussed issues of mutual interest, including bilateral trade, cooperation, regional and global security, and the impact of global security challenges on countries outside the immediate zones of conflict. 

The two Presidents also explored areas of cooperation in agriculture to promote food security and year-round farming, artificial intelligence (AI) development, maternal health support, and the Accra–Kumasi Expressway project. 

 They further discussed building on France’s long-standing support to Ghana through the Agence Française de Développement (AFD). 

President Mahama and President Macron also co-chaired the 2026 One Health Summit. 

Members of the President’s delegation included Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mr Prosper Bani, National Security Advisor; Dr Callistus Mahama, Executive Secretary to the President; Mrs Joyce Bawa Mogtari, Presidential Advisor and Special Aide to the President; and Madam Mavis Frimpong, Ghana’s Ambassador to France.
