Unlike her younger sister Charlene Ruto and brother Nick Ruto, President William Ruto’s eldest daughter, June Ruto, leads a low-key lifestyle away from public scrutiny.

In the past, she has occasionally appeared with her siblings and parents at public events. Nonetheless, for the most part, she stays out of the public eye, which seems to be a unique aspect of her.

Even on social media, where her peers often share their day-to-day activities, June Ruto remains absent. She has indeed chosen to stay under the radar.

Despite her status in the country, there is limited information about her career and family in the public domain. Times Digital Kenya takes a look at her life, revisiting her wedding ceremony as well as her diplomatic work.

June Ruto’s Education and Career

Following in the academic footsteps of her father, William Ruto, June Ruto has established herself as a distinguished scholar.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in diplomacy from the United States International University (USIU), Kenya.

Additionally, to further her studies, June Ruto pursued a degree in international relations from the University of Queensland in Australia.

Having gained knowledge in diplomacy during her university studies, June Ruto secured her first job in the Government of Kenya in 2014 when she joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Through her skills and dedication, she rose through the ranks, which saw her hold key positions in the ministry.

She also served as a second counsellor at the Kenyan Embassy in Rome, Italy, for a period of time.

June Ruto currently serves as the Chargé d’Affaires in Poland. She represents Kenya in the absence of an ambassador.

Her role is recognised under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which grants her privileges and immunities similar to those of an ambassador.

High-Profile Wedding Ceremony

June Ruto held a glamorous wedding in May 2021 at a time when William Ruto was the Deputy President of Kenya. She married Alexander Ezenagu, a Nigerian national.

The colourful wedding ceremony was held at the Ruto family’s posh Karen residence. The event was graced by high-profile guests, including William Ruto himself, his wife Rachel Ruto, and some of his longtime friends.
