Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo was observed participating in Nigeria’s final training session ahead of their upcoming international friendly against Mali, as reported by Soccernet.ng.

Omeruo was sidelined for the recent match against Ghana’s Black Stars, with interim coach Finidi George opting for Benjamin Tanimu, Chidozie Awaziem, and Semi Ajayi in the defensive lineup.

The current manager of the Nigeria Premier Football League side, Enyimba FC, later revealed to reporters that Omeruo picked up a knock prior to the game.

“In training Kenneth [Omeruo] had a knock so I think he couldn’t go. We will rest him for the next match that was the reason” he said.

However, a recent video from Nigeria’s training session captured Omeruo preparing with the team for their fixture against Mali at the Stade de Marrakech Stadium on Tuesday evening.

In the footage, the former Chelsea defender was seen engaging in a penalty shootout drill with Stanley Nwabali in goal, showcasing his skills by successfully sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.

Nigeria secured a 2-1 victory over Ghana in their last outing, while Mali demonstrated their readiness for the upcoming match with a convincing 2-0 win over Mauritania, also held in Morocco.
