Police Rescue Toddler, Arrest Kidnappers' Leader In Yobe State Operation

In a commendable operation, the Yobe State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has announced the successful rescue of a toddler from a kidnappers' hideout, alongside the apprehension of the gang leader.

This significant development was confirmed by DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the Command's Public Relations Officer, in a statement released on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the criminals carried out their nefarious activities in Bungai village, Buni Yadi, Gujba LGA, on May 12, 2024, around 1 pm. They arrived at the scene, firing shots indiscriminately, and forcibly abducted 3-year-old Adamu Sani.

Through meticulously planned and intelligence-led operations, in collaboration with local vigilante groups, the police located the kidnappers' den in Buni Yadi town. Swift action ensued, resulting in the arrest of the gang leader, identified as Yau Usman, who was found in possession of the abducted toddler. Other members of the syndicate managed to flee the scene, prompting an immediate pursuit by law enforcement.

The rescued child received necessary medical attention at a nearby hospital before being reunited with his relieved parents. Meanwhile, the apprehended suspect has been transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for thorough investigation, with the aim of capturing the remaining culprits and ensuring their prosecution.

Commissioner of Police, Garba Ahmed, urged the public to maintain vigilance and promptly report any suspicious activities or criminal hideouts to law enforcement authorities. This call for cooperation underscores the ongoing commitment of the police to ensure the safety and security of all residents in Yobe State.
