Recruitment

The Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, and the Ghana Immigration Service have announced recruitment for individuals who applied to join these services in 2021.

In separate notices published on Wednesday, August 7, the three security services said the recruitment process begins today, August 7, 2024.

Qualified applicants must meet several general requirements: they must be Ghanaian by birth, of good character, without a criminal record, and must not have been dismissed from any public service or other employment.

Applicants must also be physically and medically fit.

The notices added that applicants will bear all costs associated with the vetting and medical examination processes.

They are also responsible for their transportation, feeding, and accommodation during the exercise.

The deadline for submission of applications is Tuesday, August 13, 2024.

Meanwhile, the services warned applicants against dealing with middlemen or agents, noting that any involvement in such activities is at the applicant’s own risk and may lead to arrest and prosecution.

This comes after the Minority in Parliament petitioned the Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to investigate alleged secret recruitment into various security agencies.

This followed reports of a planned recruitment of 11,000 personnel from a backlog of applicants over the years.

In the petition dated July 16, 2024, the Minority said the intended and purported recruitments by the services violated the constitution.

It also urged CHRAJ to ensure that all recruitment advertisements for public services are published in national newspapers to promote transparency.

However, the Interior Minister, Henry Quartey, denied claims that the ministry was undertaking a covet recruitment into the security agencies.
