Plateau APC Primaries Deliver Major Upset: Two Senators, Four Reps Lose Re-election Bids

The Electoral Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has announced the winners of the Senate and House of Representatives primaries held across the state.

Addressing party stakeholders at the APC secretariat in Jos, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Stella Okete, said the exercise was conducted freely, fairly, peacefully, and in full compliance with the party’s guidelines.

Hon. Okete announced the successful House of Representatives candidates as Hon. Beni Lar for Langtang North/Langtang South Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi for Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency, Jeo Dashe for Mikang/Shendam/Qua’an Pan Federal Constituency, Hon. Musa Dachung Bagos for Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency, Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Plaza for Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency, Hon. Ishaya Lalu for Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency, and Rt. Hon. Idris Maje for Wase Federal Constituency.

Following the announcement, four incumbent House of Representatives members lost their re-election bids in the primaries.

The committee also declared winners for the three senatorial districts: Sen. Simon Mwadkwon for Plateau North Senatorial District, Mr. Bitrus Bako Barji for Plateau Central Senatorial District, and Barr. Simon Bako Lalong for Plateau South Senatorial District.

With these results, two incumbent senators — Sen. Diket Plang and Sen. Pam Dachung — also failed in their bids for re-election ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Heavy security was deployed at the APC secretariat in Jos, even as supporters of the victorious aspirants celebrated the outcome of the primaries.
