DUBAI: The Patriot digital premiere is set to arrive on ZEE5 Global on June 5, bringing together Malayalam cinema legends Mammootty and Mohanlal on screen after 18 years. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan, the political thriller will stream in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada for audiences across multiple regions.

The film combines espionage, politics, technology and emotional conflict within a tense story centred on government surveillance and abuse of power. Patriot follows a man who once helped develop a sophisticated surveillance programme intended to protect the nation. However, after discovering the system is being misused against innocent citizens through manipulation and control, he begins questioning his role and the consequences of his actions.

Alongside Mammootty and Mohanlal, the film features Nayanthara, Fahadh Faasil and Kunchacko Boban in major roles, supported by actors including Revathy, Rajeev Menon, Darshana Rajendran and Zarin Shihab.

Director Mahesh Narayanan said the story reflects modern anxieties surrounding technology, privacy and control. He explained that the emotional conflict driving the central character became one of the film’s strongest elements. Narayanan added that he was excited for audiences across India and international markets to experience the Patriot digital premiere through ZEE5 Global.
