Osimhen confident Galatasaray can beat Juventus, Atletico in UCL playoffs

Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has expressed confidence that the Yellow and Reds will rise to the challenge in the UEFA Champions League playoffs, regardless of whether they are drawn against Atlético Madrid or Juventus.

Galatasaray’s hopes of automatic qualification for the Round of 16 were dashed on Wednesday night after a 2–0 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. 

The result means Okan Buruk’s side must now navigate the playoff route to reach the last 16.

The Turkish champions will discover their opponents when the playoff draw is conducted on Friday. 

Despite the setback in Manchester, Osimhen believes Galatasaray are well equipped to handle the task ahead.

Osimhen said: “I’m getting physically better, we don’t have a situation where we have to choose between Juventus and Atlético Madrid. These are the kinds of matches we’ll be playing regularly, and we’ll keep improving.”

The 27-year-old also pointed to the club’s ongoing transfer activity as a source of optimism.

“The club is working on transfers. We signed two very good players,” he added. “Both Juventus and Atlético Madrid are very strong teams. Whoever we face, we’ll do our best.”

Osimhen’s confidence reflects Galatasaray’s determination to extend their Champions League campaign and join the other eight teams already through to the Round of 16, as they look to make a deeper run in Europe this season.
