A section of the palace of Ooni of Ife has been razed by fire following what sources claimed as power surge into the palace.

It was learnt that an apartment within the courtyard of the palace was gutted by fire at about 11:30 pm on Friday.

However, the monarch's media aide, Moses Olafare, has said that the situation was under control.
