Okpokwu Peace Concert Team Honours BENPOLY Rector, Hon. Obetta, Others at OYIDAY 4.0

The Coalition of Okpokwu Youths Group (COYOG) has honoured several distinguished sons and daughters of Okpokwu for their outstanding contributions to societal development at the fourth edition of the annual Okpokwu Peace Concert, popularly known as OYIDAY.

The event, held on Christmas Day at the Millennium Plaza, Okpoga, celebrated individuals whose efforts have positively impacted community growth, peace, and development within Okpokwu Local Government Area.

OYIDAY is an annual initiative coordinated by the convener of COYOG and founder of the Beyond Boundaries Legacy Leadership Initiative (BBLLI), Comrade Omaga Daniel. The concert serves as a unifying platform that brings together Okpokwu sons and daughters,particularly the youth to promote peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and unity of purpose across the various districts of the local government.

Over the years, the event has grown into a major cultural and social gathering, featuring musical performances, cultural displays, talk shows, dance competitions, giveaways, and award presentations. Its popularity was once again evident in the large turnout recorded at the 2025 edition.

Award recipients at the fourth edition of the Okpokwu Peace Concert included Arch. Dr. Henry Ojobo, Rector of Benue State Polytechnic; Hon. Mrs. Juliana Obetta, former Chairman of Okpokwu Local Government Council; Mr. Emmanuel Ochigbo Afam of St. Alpha Group of Companies; Hon. Johnmary Idoko, MD/CEO of Millennium Ventures Ltd; and the Okpokwu Divisional Police Officer, CSP Peter Shaga.

In previous editions, the honour has been bestowed on notable personalities such as Distinguished Senator Patrick Abba Moro, Senate Minority Leader; His Lordship, Bishop Michael Apochi of the Otukpo Catholic Diocese; Chief Emmanuel Ajenu, Proprietor of Cherryfields Group of Schools; Hon. Ralph Otobo Odoh, Proprietor of Apa College of Education; Barr. Adole Godwin Eche, Executive Director of BAGE Foundation; Mr. Raymond Abah Ochigbo, Executive Director of CROUF; Engr. Uleh Franklin of Shekinah Group of Companies; Yusuf Ogwuche of the Nigerian Army; Prince Simon Ali; and Engr. John Ochigbo, among other renowned philanthropists and community developers from Ichama.

The 2025 edition also showcased performances by notable Okpokwu artistes, including Legendary Mama Juliana Onah, Dontu, KeyBaba, Eni Idoma, MC Amebo, KDO Final, Melky Welsh, Mzeal Oyidoma, Saint Easy, Sir Prof. Oche, Bexman, Aleluya, George Weah, Simon J, MC Tunes, Zikky Funny, Akpari Best Dancers, Perfect Dancers, and many others.

Organisers have announced that the fifth edition of the Okpokwu Peace Concert is scheduled to hold on December 25, 2026, with expectations of an even bigger and more impactful celebration of peace and unity.
