President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been urged by the Apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, to decisively address the nation’s insecurity challenges.

In a statement on Sunday, the National President of the Igbo group, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, advised the president to act promptly to avoid what he termed as the “Goodluck Jonathan treatment”.

According to Okwu, the recent spate of abductions in the country over the past two weeks indicated a deliberate strategy to undermine the government’s credibility.

He remarked, “During the Chibok incident, former President Goodluck Jonathan was slow to recognize the orchestrated plot against his government. Even the security agencies concealed the truth from him.

“By the time the administration grasped the situation, it was too late, resulting in international attention, including active involvement from the American president’s wife in the bring back our girls campaign.

“Similar forces are now at play; the mass kidnapping of schoolchildren is not solely for ransom, but primarily to discredit the government, portraying it as incompetent and tarnishing its image globally.”

He urged President Tinubu to take decisive action by setting a clear deadline for security chiefs to deliver desired results, with dismissal as the consequence for failure.

“This approach is vital to end the prevailing national humiliation.

“It is perplexing how over 200 individuals could be moved from one location to another without resistance.

“It indicates a systemic flaw that must be rectified promptly to avoid a fate similar to Jonathan’s for Mr. President.

“Timely action is imperative to prevent the relocation of the abducted schoolchildren to neighboring countries. Any delay is perilous.”
