NXT recap & reactions (Nov. 18, 2025): Tatum Paxley’s rude awakening

What’s Ya Poison

Not going to bury the lede here: I’m not feeling NXT’s choice to take the title off Tatum Paxley. She just got it all of five minutes ago with so much promise. Adding the backstabbing and another Jacy Jayne championship reign just makes it go down even worse.

Let’s start with the title switch: It was way too soon. Tatum talked about being a fighting champion while the obvious consequences that come from such a desire lurked in the background. Jacy held that championship for months after defeating La Primera, which gave her reign some meaning. Tatum defeating Jacy gave her win some weight as a result of everything that came before, including Tatum’s past. She finally got to a position where she believed in herself. Her abilities in the ring matched her weirdness outside of it.

Then there’s the turn. I’d have less of an issue with it if it didn’t seem like the territory was unsure about it. It was the obvious call when Tatum first won the championship. Izzi Dame’s jealousy was a thing as that green-eyed monster was hard to conceal. But then it looked like they jettisoned that when Izzi sacrificed herself for Tatum and constantly told her to take care of the championship rather than fighting anyone who smiled at her. Now she turned all of that on a dime for this title defense but not the previous one? She wanted Tatum to be judicious with title defenses but also cost her the title?
