Note from MOK Foundation Founder

I reaffirm our commitment to serve humanity, nurture mentees, immortalize our legacies, and collaborate with government agencies to improve the lives of our people- MOK

Before the establishment of the MOK Foundation, just a few months after the 2023 elections, I was driven to take action by two significant realizations. First, I observed that many Nigerians, particularly in my home region, were trapped in a cycle of poverty so severe that individuals were willing to engage in heated disputes over paltry sums of money—5,000 or 10,000 naira—offered as bribes during elections. This pervasive issue has plagued our society for decades, creating a toxic environment where desperation often outweighs reason.

Secondly, I became acutely aware of the staggering impact of poverty on our communities. Many people were suffering, from those living with disabilities who faced systemic disadvantages, to patients in hospitals unable to afford even the most basic medical treatments. Families struggled to pay school fees for their primary and secondary school children, severely hindering their educational opportunities. The situation was dire, and it weighed heavily on my conscience.

Having survived the grip of poverty myself through sheer hard work, perseverance, and dedication, I felt a profound duty to help improve the conditions of my fellow citizens. Beyond my immediate family and community, where I had already been making contributions, I envisioned establishing a platform that could assist those who had no direct connection to me, people who might not even share my language or background, but who desperately needed support. My focus was particularly on the underprivileged: people living with disabilities, the needy, widows, ill individuals, farmers struggling to sustain their livelihoods, students striving for an education, and many others. This vision culminated in the founding of the MOK Foundation in 2023.

When I launched the foundation, I made a solemn promise that it would operate as an independent entity, driven solely by humanitarian goals. I reassured my team that the MOK Foundation would steer clear of political involvement, instead prioritizing the needs of the people. I committed to making the foundation a vehicle for alleviating poverty, shifting mindsets, and significantly impacting lives. Through collective effort and unwavering understanding, we have begun to realize our mission in a remarkably short time.

As I expressed in my widely viewed interview on May 4, 2024, “the foundation will be sustained for more than four decades, regardless of my presence.” This statement serves as our guiding framework. Since we officially initiated operations, what began as a localized community intervention has swiftly evolved into a national initiative within just two years. People from Kwara Central, Kwara South, and Kwara North have reaped the benefits of our efforts, and we have positively touched countless lives, expanding our impact far beyond my original intentions. Our progress and achievements are meticulously documented in the MOK Foundation Chronicles 3.

I consistently emphasize that our mission is rooted in humanity. Our primary goal is to bring smiles to the faces of underprivileged community members; everything else is secondary. Despite facing numerous rumors and political speculation from desperate competitors, no one has successfully argued that the foundation serves any political agenda. We operate without bias or preference, serving individuals across all political lines. The MOK Foundation is steadfastly committed to its mission, driven by collective efforts that exemplify our vision.

I would like to reiterate my unwavering commitment to continue serving humanity, nurturing mentees, immortalizing our legacies, and collaborating with government agencies to enhance the lives of our people.

I look forward to sharing more updates with you in the future. Thank you all for your support.

Sincerely,
Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode
