Northern Leaders Have Been Reduced To Cheerleaders Under Tinubu’s Government -Lukman Laments

Salihu Lukman, former National Vice Chairman (North-west) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), criticized Northern politicians for their perceived lack of influence in Bola Tinubu’s government, likening them to mere supporters echoing slogans despite the administration’s shaky performance.

In a strongly-worded statement titled ‘Explosive North: Open Letter to Northern Politicians’, Lukman lamented that the window for Northern leaders to restore order and address regional challenges closed during former President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure.

He warned that the situation in the North could deteriorate rapidly, with widespread hunger potentially leading to unrest and property looting.

Lukman specifically pointed out the apparent political disarray within Tinubu’s administration, noting a lack of proactive leadership from Northern figures like Vice President Kashim Shettima.

He criticized them for prioritizing self-preservation over defending Northern interests, highlighting a perceived indifference to the region’s welfare.

The statement highlighted internal power struggles within the presidency and described the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, as reducing his role to that of a mere protocol officer to President Tinubu.

Lukman further criticized other Northern officials, including Secretary to the Government of the Federation Sen. George Akume, accusing them of passively supporting Tinubu’s administration despite its shortcomings.……..See More
