No room for error in World Cup play-off – Troost-Ekong

Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has stressed that Nigeria must avoid mistakes as they battle for a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Following their failure to qualify directly, Nigeria will compete in the African playoffs alongside Gabon, Cameroon, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The three-time African champions face Gabon in Thursday’s semi-final at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex in Rabat, with the winner set to meet either Cameroon or DR Congo in the final.

“We’ve built great chemistry, and the mindset in camp is positive. Although preparation time is short, we’re focused,” Troost-Ekong told Olympics.com.

“It’s a one-off game on neutral ground, and we know we must win to reach the final playoff. There’s no room for error.”
