Afrobeat music star is set to launch a new music label called NINE+. The deal will allow OBO to spearhead artist development and A&R for a lineup of Nigerian artists.

In a post via his handle on Saturday, OBO disclosed that all the artists currently signed to his record label will move to the new music label Records.

He wrote, “All my artists would be moved to Nine+ Records… Clearing the air!”

Some of the artists currently signed to DMW include Dremo, Yonda, Peruzzi, Idowest from Lagos Island, DJ Ecool, Danagog, B-Red, Deekay, May D, Deinde, Ayanfe, Liya, Morravey, SayTheyCallMESG and Logos Olori.

OBO will partner with UNITED MASTER in nurturing and uplifting African and Naija’s unique sound to the world.According to Adeyemi, a member of OBO ’s PR team, the name was culled from the lyrics of OBO’s 2022 song Stand Strong: “OBO elemi nine plus,” meaning “OBO has more than nine lives.”. It was reported that the UNITED MASTER, an American music distribution company, expanded its operations into Nigeria in December 2023.

Its founder, American music executive Steve Stoute said he met Davido while in Nigeria last year and they talked about the possibilities of working together.“OBO will collaborate with Steve Stoute to identify and develop talent. Their respective teams from Nine+ Records and UnitedMasters will work together to support these artists.

Although OBO confirmed earlier that DWM will continue its independent operations and maintain its roster as a record label, will focus on its global journey, OBO tweeted last night that he’s moving all his DMW artists to Nine+ Records.
