Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day Public Holiday Announced

The Federal Government has announced that Wednesday, 1 October 2025 will be observed as a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary. The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government.

The minister, in a statement signed by Dr Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary of the ministry, extended warm congratulations to Nigerians, both within the country and abroad.

A Call for Unity and Strength

In his message, Dr Tunji-Ojo urged citizens to hold firmly to the values of patriotism and togetherness. He spoke of the resilience that has kept Nigeria standing tall since the historic year of 1960. His words carried an encouragement, a nudge to keep faith and believe in a better tomorrow.

Renewed Hope and National Growth

The minister further called on Nigerians to support the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu. This vision, according to him, rests on three pillars:
