Nigerian Man Rescues Abandoned Baby Found Crying in a Bush

A Nigerian man, Paul Kavwam, has shared on how he and his group discovered an abandoned baby during a hike in Plateau State.

According to his post on Facebook, the incident happened on Saturday, May 16, 2026, as they were returning from a hiking trip. While making their way back, they suddenly heard the cry of a baby coming from the bush.

Curious and concerned, they followed the sound and eventually found the infant wrapped in a towel and left alone.

To be sure the child was not with anyone nearby, they asked women in the area who were gathering firewood, but none of them claimed the baby.

Realising the seriousness of the situation, they immediately took the child to Nigeria Police Force at the Angwa Rukuba Police Station in Jos North.

He explained that they were later directed to another station, where they formally handed the baby over to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for proper care and transfer to the appropriate authorities.

He wrote: “Today we were out on a hike, on our way back, we heard the cry of a baby wrapped and kept in the bush.We had to call some women who were looking for fire wood in the bush and they said it’s not their baby. I then took the baby and we took him to Angwa rukuba police station and we were later transferred to the Nasarawa Police station where we handed the baby to the DPO of the station for onward transfer to the department where this child will be taken care of.
