Congo head coach Barthelemy Ngatsono has admitted that the home-based Super Eagles deserved their 2-0 win in Tuesday’s Group D clash at the 2024 African Nations Championship.

The Congolese side, who needed a victory to secure a quarter-final spot, fell short against Nigeria at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Dar es Salaam.

After a goalless first half, goals from Anas Yusuf and Sikiru Alimi sealed the win for Nigeria and ended Congo’s campaign.

Speaking after the defeat, Ngatsono conceded his side were outclassed.

“Nigeria were better prepared, and physically fit than us, so we couldn’t control the ball as well.
Despite our good preparation before the match, we weren’t good as we planned,” he told CAFonline.
