PORT HARCOURT – A Niger Delta entrepreneur and founder of Abitto Global Services Limited, Mr. Richard Akinaka, has applauded President Ahmed Bola Tinubu over the timely and successful reopening of the Port Harcourt Petroleum Refinery.

This is as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited on Thursday announced that it has completed the mechanical phase of the turnaround maintenance of the refinery, following the federal government’s promised that the facility would begin operations this month.

Akinaka said the reopening of the Poet Harcourt Refinery would have a major and significant impact on the country’s economy and oil industry.

Speaking in Port Harcourt on Thursday, Akinaka, who is known as one of the outstanding young entrepreneurs from the region, said the revamping of the refinery and commencement of production would help to reduce the pressure on the nation’s currency and inflow of forex.

He said it was also an advantage to the pursuit of the country’s zero petroleum oil product import.

Akinaka commended the Port Harcourt Refinery management led by Engr. Ibrahim Onaja, and Technomont contractor for their tireless work, unwavering dedication and commitment in realising the objectives of the refinery’s rehabilitation.

He said the new state of the refinery was a testament of the importance of leadership to any sector as proven by Mr. Onoja and his team.

Akinika said, “The revitalization of the Port Harcourt Refinery is not just about enhancing our energy capabilities; it is a powerful catalyst for economic growth.

“When the refinery becomes fully operational, it means an increased job opportunities, a boost to local businesses, and a ripple effect that will elevate the standard of living for our community.”

He said the refinery’s imminent operation was not just a fulfillment of a commitment but also a beacon of hope for the economy, signaling a new era of self-reliance and prosperity.

Akinika called on the host communities, the Eleme and Okrika people, to work in synergy with the Refinery to reap the rewards of economic revitalization.

He defined the feat as a collaborative effort that will shape the future of the region.

“Let us view the refinery as more than just an industrial facility; it is a symbol of our shared progress, a testament to what we can achieve when we work together towards a common goal”

Akinaka urged other citizens and indigenes of host communities of the project to see the projects as theirs and protect government assets.

“This is our refinery, our economic engine. Let us stand united in safeguarding and nurturing this valuable asset that holds the key to our community’s economic prosperity.

“Together, we can ensure that the benefits of the Port Harcourt Refinery reach every corner of Okrika, creating a legacy of prosperity for generations to come.”
