Nic Nemeth injured, but he’ll still wrestle in world title main event at TNA Slammiversary

The main event for Slammiversary is set with a six-way elimination match for the TNA World Championship on July 20. Moose was granted passage as the reigning titleholder. Josh Alexander, Steve Maclin, Nic Nemeth, Frankie Kazarian, and Joe Hendry won qualifying bouts. There was still doubt if that field would remain official due to Nemeth suffering an injury.

A few weeks ago, Nemeth was attacked by a mystery assailant backstage. It turned out to be Kaz, and Nemeth sought payback in an alleyway brawl. The damage was done though as Nemeth clutched his shoulder in pain.

The closing segment for the go-home episode of Impact (July 20, 2024) was a contract signing for the participants. And yes, there was violence. But first, Nemeth addressed his injury status from home. He suffered a partially torn labrum, however, he will be medically cleared to compete at Slammiversary.

Moose, Alexander, Maclin, Kaz, and Hendry acted civil for the most part, as requested by Director of Authority Santino Marella. Malarkey didn’t occur until AJ Francis butt in claiming himself as the true main event of Slammiversary. Top Dolla has his own match against PCO at the PPV. Francis refused to leave the ring, so the French-Canadian Frankenstein crawled out to clothesline him over the ropes. That was the spark that ignited the fire. A melee erupted, and Hendry had the shining moment for a Standing Ovation chokeslam to Moose through the table.
