As the 10th August 2027 General Election draws closer, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has released an updated list of newly registered voters in the ongoing voter registration process.

In a statement shared on social media on April 24, the commission announced that since the start of the Enhanced Voter Continuous Registration (EVCR) on 30th March to April 23, 2026, a total of 1,876,274 new voters have been registered.

While Kenyans are set to elect leaders for six (6) elective positions, the latest figures indicate an increase in the number of newly registered voters, with the commission recording an additional 505,344 registrations.

This marks a notable rise from the previous report released on April 16, where IEBC had recorded 1,370,930 newly registered voters. In addition to new registrations, the commission also reported 159,410 voter transfers and 2,817 updates of voter particulars.

Of the 505,344 new registrations, the IEBC also released a list showing counties that recorded the highest and lowest numbers.

According to the report, just like in the previous update, Nairobi City recorded the highest number of newly registered voters with 209,965, followed by Kiambu with 97,557 and Nakuru with 81,166.

Kakamega recorded 80,711 new registrations, followed by another Western region county, Bungoma, with 62,203.

Below is the list of the 10 counties that recorded the highest number of registrations:

  • Nairobi City – 209,965
  • Kiambu – 97,557
  • Nakuru – 81,166
  • Kakamega – 80,711
  • Bungoma – 62,203
  • Kisii – 50,551
  • Turkana – 50,310
  • Kajiado – 44,615
  • Uasin Gishu – 43,745
  • Nandi – 42,334

Among the counties that recorded the lowest number of registrations, Lamu had 8,345, followed closely by Isiolo with a total of  9,291 newly registered voters.

Other counties among the bottom 10 include Mandera, Nyandarua and Tana River, which recorded 14,946, 16,604 and 17,015 respectively.

  • Samburu – 17,361

  • Wajir – 17,930
  • Embu -19,966
  • Taita Taveta – 20,160

As the deadline approaches with four (4) days remaining, the IEBC urges all eligible voters who have not yet registered to take the opportunity to enroll as voters.
