  • The new Guoya will be available with a 3.0-liter or a 4.0-liter hybrid powertrain.
  • The car has design elements “borrowed” from Cadillac, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, and others.
  • Pricing details haven’t been announced.

Hongqi’s flagship luxury sedan debuted at the Beijing Auto Show. It’s not named the L1 as expected, opting instead for the Guoya nameplate, and will be sold under the company’s new Golden Sunflower brand.

As recently leaked photos revealed, the exterior of the Guoya appears to take influence from Rolls-Royce, Bentley, and Cadillac. A massive chrome grille immediately catches the eye and there is also a pronounced badge up front which looks like a knock-off version of the Spirit of Ecstacy.

According to local media, the headlights of the new Guoya are so intricate they can display symbols on the road. Combined with the imposing front grille, the front end of the sedan looks quite regal, even though it’s not entirely original.

As you could have probably guessed, the Guoya is big. More specifically, it is 5,353 mm (210.7 inches) long, 1,998 mm (78.6 inches) wide, and stands 1,511 mm (59.4 inches) tall with a massive 3,260 mm (128-inch) wheelbase. It was showcased in Beijing with a lovely two-tone red and champagne paint finish.

There’s plenty to like about the cabin of the latest Hongqi creation. It includes a large infotainment display, a digital instrument cluster, and a small analog clock positioned on top of the dashboard. There is also a two-spoke steering wheel, lots of piano black trim, and a two-tone purple and white leather upholstery. Hongqi will sell the sedan in both four- and five-seat configurations and key standard features include massaging seats, an advanced head-up display, and ambient lighting.

Hongqi will offer the sedan with two hybrid powertrains. The entry-level option is a 3.0-liter turbocharged hybrid with a combined 389 hp (290 kW) and paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The second option is a 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 hybrid with 483 (360 kW) and the same transmission. Both use ternary lithium battery packs. All-electric range details haven’t been announced.
