Ndidi, Onyeka join Super Eagles camp as squad count rises to 15

Nigerian midfield duo Wilfred Ndidi and Frank Onyeka have checked into the Super Eagles camp in Uyo, raising the number of players available to 15 as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Ndidi, fresh off his move from Leicester City to Turkish giants Besiktas, will be eager to stamp his authority in midfield as Nigeria gear up for decisive fixtures against Rwanda and South Africa.

Onyeka, in fine form for Brentford with back-to-back assists against Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup and Sunderland in the Premier League, adds further depth and energy to the squad.

The pair join a growing list of arrivals, including captain William Troost-Ekong, Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Ola Aina, and Moses Simon. Eight more players are expected later today, with head coach Eric Chelle keen to assemble his full squad before Saturday’s clash at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

After facing Rwanda in Uyo, the Super Eagles will travel to South Africa for their second qualifier of the international break. Victory in both matches is regarded as vital to strengthening Nigeria’s chances of securing a place at the 2026 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Rwanda’s delegation is expected to touch down in Lagos later today before continuing to Uyo to wrap up their preparations for the high-stakes encounter.
