Napoli turn to Arokodare after Lukaku injury blow — Report

Serie A champions Napoli have set their sights on Nigeria international Tolu Arokodare following Romelu Lukaku’s injury setback, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Romano revealed that Napoli shifted their attention to the Genk forward after Lukaku suffered a muscle injury during a pre-season clash, ruling him out for the start of the new campaign.

“Napoli have contacted Arokodare’s representatives,” Romano stated on Tuesday, adding that the Belgian Pro League top scorer has quickly become a top target for the club as they look to reinforce their attacking options.

Arokodare enjoyed a stellar season with Genk, netting 21 goals and providing six assists in 40 appearances.

His links to Napoli come shortly after the club sold fellow Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen to Turkish giants Galatasaray in a record transfer.

Alongside Arokodare, Napoli are also monitoring Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund, who was left out of United’s Premier League opener against Arsenal.
