The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commissioned a fully equipped computer laboratory at Government Science Secondary School, Shinkafi, Zamfara State, to promote digital education and strengthen civil-military relations.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, said yesterday that the project was part of NAF’s non-kinetic efforts to enhance security through community support.

Aneke, who was represented by the deputy theatre commander, “Operation Fansan Yamma”, Air Vice Marshal U.K. Abdullahi, said the laboratory was executed as a special intervention project in honour of an illustrious son of the state,

Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Abdullahi Shinkafi.

He said the intervention aligned with the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and described strong civil-military relations as critical to national security.

Aneke urged residents of Shinkafi to protect the facility and to support security agencies by providing credible intelligence to combat insecurity.

Also speaking, the Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force North-West, Operation Fansan Yamma, Major General Warrah Idris, said sustainable peace cannot be achieved through military action alone, but requires investment in education, technology and youth empowerment.

According to him, equipping young people with digital skills will build a resilient society and discourage vulnerable youths from criminality and terrorism.

In his remarks, Zamfara State Deputy Governor, Mani Mummuni, who represented Governor Dauda Lawal, commended the NAF leadership for the intervention, saying it aligns with the state’s development agenda to provide modern facilities in rural schools.

Mummuni lauded AVM Shinkafi for his patriotic service and urged the community to make effective use of the facility.

The Emir of Shinkafi, Alhaji Muhammadu Mkwashe Isah, members of the State Executive Council, senior military officers, staff and students of the school attended the ceremony.
