Mrs. Khadijah Abu Seidu, a resilient and determined mother of three, has achieved a remarkable academic milestone by emerging as the Overall Best Graduating Student in the Bachelor of Science (Midwifery Top-Up) program at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Ghana. With an outstanding Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.80, Khadijah’s hard work and dedication have earned her a scholarship to pursue a two-year MPhil or MSc in Nursing or Midwifery.

Her achievement was celebrated during UCC’s 57th Congregation (5th Session), where she was recognized as:

  • The Overall Best Graduating Student in the BSc. (Nursing-Top Up), BSc. (Midwifery-Top Up), and Diploma in Midwifery programs.
  • The Best Graduating Student in BSc. Midwifery-Top Up (Centre-Based).

A Journey of Dedication and Perseverance

Khadijah’s path to academic excellence is a testament to her resilience and unwavering commitment. Born in Tamale, Northern Region, she started her education at Agogo Presbyterian Practice Primary School and later attended Pinamang Preparatory and Junior High School in Konongo Odumasi.

She completed her secondary education at Ghana Secondary School, Tamale, earning aggregate 17 in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). Her passion for healthcare led her to pursue a Diploma in Midwifery at Tamale Community Health Nursing School from 2009 to 2011.

Over the years, Khadijah balanced her professional journey with her academic pursuits:

  • Worked at Salaga Hospital (2011), Nyankpala Health Center (2012–2015), and Maamobi General Hospital (2015–2019).
  • Advanced her education at the Pantang Nursing and Midwifery Training College (2019–2022).
  • Completed her BSc. Midwifery-Top Up at the UCC Teshie Centre in 2024.

Currently, she is a midwife at Tema General Hospital.

Balancing Motherhood, Marriage, and Academics

Khadijah’s journey was far from easy. Balancing her roles as a wife, mother, and student required immense sacrifices and determination. Yet, she managed to excel academically while maintaining her family responsibilities.

Her achievements are not only a source of pride for her family but also serve as an inspiration for other women striving to balance their personal and professional aspirations.

With UCC’s scholarship, Khadijah is set to pursue a two-year master’s program, further advancing her expertise in nursing or midwifery. Her remarkable story of perseverance and excellence underscores the importance of determination and hard work in achieving success.

Victoria Ansaa Sackey has distinguished herself as the Best Graduating Student in the Master of Arts in Brands and Communications Management (MABC) program, Class of 2024, at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA). Her remarkable accomplishment reflects her relentless dedication, resilience, and hard work, crowned by her faith in God’s guidance.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Victoria expressed her gratitude, dedicating the achievement to her late father, Mr. Michael Osae Sackey, who inspired and motivated her. She wrote, “This remarkable achievement is dedicated to my late father. As I proudly walked to receive this honor, I knew the heavens rejoiced with him.”
