MLW adds ex-WWE redneck, title fight, and ritual combat to Battle Riot

It truly will be a ... ahem ... riot!

MLW is gearing up for the Battle Riot event on June 1 from Atlanta, GA. The Battle Riot match is a 40-man rumble with the winner earning a shot at the world heavyweight championship held by Satoshi Kojima. The latest batch of participants includes an ex-WWE veteran. MLW also added a title bout and ritual combat to the card.

Jimmy Yang is ready to riot. He wrestled various stints in the WWE as an Asian redneck named Jimmy Wang Yang. MLW described his upcoming appearance:

It’s been 22 years since Jimmy Yang stepped foot in an MLW ring but that streak will end in Atlanta on June 1st when the clock ticks down to zero and he enters his first-ever Battle RIOT!

CONTRA vows to inject anarchy into MLW June 1st at the Battle Riot. The international cabal will unleash its newest soldier as CONTRA aims to takeover MLW’s biggest event by force. CONTRA’s commander, Mads Krule Krugger, has called upon a crusader from, “far away to rise up for the cause.”

We now know 21 of the 40 wrestlers in Battle Riot. The list includes Matt Riddle, Ernest “The Cat” Miller, Sami Callihan, Mistico, Davey Boy Smith Jr., Alex Kane, Mr. Thomas, AJ Francis, Matthew Justice, 1 Called Manders, Akira, Okumura, Timothy Thatcher, Mads Krugger, the Contra crusader, Bobby Fish, Josh Bishop, Brett Ryan Gosselin, Jake Crist, Paul Walter Hauser, and Jimmy Yang.

The Battle Riot event will also feature a handful of other matches. During Fury Road, AJ Francis challenged Alex Kane to ritual combat in Atlanta for the throne of the Bomaye Fight Club. Mistico will compete in lucha libre action to defend the MLW World Middleweight Championship against Star Jr.
