MEET SARKI ABBA FROM KANO STATE, THE GENIUS THAT WAS MADE TO REWRITE WAEC AFTER SCORING 9 A's IN 1984

The Exam Authorities in Lagos doubted the fairness of Abba's initial exam score. They arranged for him to travel to Lagos in a car to retake the exam within three days under strict supervision.

After reevaluating the rescheduled exams, he achieved 9 A1 grades, which led to the conversion of his previous 'A2' grade in English Language to 'A1,' resulting in a total of 9 A1 grades. Surprised by this, the authorities apologized and established the National Merit Award.

Consequently, Sarki Abba became the inaugural recipient of this award. In the 1989/90 school session, at the age of 21, Sarki Abba graduated as the top-performing Medical Student and the overall best graduating student at ABU, Zaria.

Currently, he holds the position of a Professor of Urological Research and also serves as a Professor of Urology and Pathology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. This is the remarkable story of Sarki Abba from Kano State, who, despite scoring 9 A's in 1984, had to rewrite the WAEC exam due to doubts about the fairness of his score.
