Maton Engineering Donates Police Headquarters To Delta Community

Maton Engineering Nigeria Limited has donated a new divisional police headquarters to the Nigeria Police in Enerhen, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

The facility, inaugurated on Tuesday, was built and furnished by the company for the Enerhen Police Division.

The project was undertaken by Maton Engineering, owned by Mr Matthew Tonlagha, as part of the company’s support for security infrastructure in the area.

The inauguration was attended by senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force, government officials, traditional leaders, community stakeholders and representatives of Maton Engineering.

Speaking at the ceremony, the company’s Executive Director of Operations, Engr Martins Avuara, said the project reflected Tonlagha’s concern for the welfare and working conditions of security personnel.

“Providing suitable accommodation for people that provide us security while we sleep at night, while we drive on the road, while we do our normal businesses, is something that is paramount to my boss,” Avuara said.

He added that Maton Engineering remained committed to supporting security agencies because effective policing partly depends on the conditions under which officers work.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel Etaifo Erale, was represented by the Area Commander, Warri Area Command, ACP Graham Imade, who also represented the Inspector-General of Police.

Imade described the new headquarters as a symbol of the shared responsibility for security, justice and the rule of law.

“This edifice we are commissioning today is more than just bricks and mortar. It is a symbol of our collective commitment to security, justice and rule of law,” he said.

He said officers of the Enerhen Division had operated under difficult conditions for years, adding that the new facility would improve morale, operational efficiency and response to security challenges.

According to him, the provision of proper offices, administrative spaces and other facilities would enable officers to serve the public with greater professionalism.

Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Area, Chief Anthony Ofoni, commended Maton Engineering for the project and said security was a shared responsibility.

“Security is everybody’s concern. Security is not for only the police or the army. All of us have a duty to play when it comes to security,” Ofoni said.

He also acknowledged the contributions of Maton Engineering Nigeria Limited and Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited to peace and security in the area.

The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom was represented by Chief Hope Akasa, JP, the Unuevworo of Uvwie Kingdom.

The traditional ruler’s representative, Chief Samuel Eshenake, said the traditional institution would continue to cooperate with the Nigeria Police Force and support cordial relations between officers and the host community.

“The Uvwie Kingdom, through our king, has always been cooperating and synergising with the Nigerian Police. This is not going to be a different one,” he said.

The Divisional Police Officer of Enerhen Police Station, CSP Nnamdi Okeke, also spoke on the significance of the new headquarters to the division’s operations and service delivery.

CSP Omosetemi Agbede-Zuokumor of Ugborikoko Divisional Headquarters and other senior police officers were also present at the ceremony.

Maton Engineering was represented by Avuara; Mr Ajosibe Justin Bebenimibo, Government and Public Affairs Manager; Ulijeh Francis, General Manager, Security; Olufemi Aga Daniel, Legal Manager; Mr Michael Obakhena, Production Manager; and other staff.
