The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the results of the 2025 Second Series Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) for private candidates, with 42.17 per cent securing five credits including English Language and Mathematics.

In a statement issued by the council’s National Office in Lagos, Moyosola Adesina, Acting Head of the Public Affairs Unit, confirmed that candidates can check their results via www.waecdirect.org
before proceeding to the digital certificate platform at www.waec.org to access their certificates.

Candidates seeking hard copies were advised to apply online through the WAEC Certificate Request Portal, e-Certman.

According to the council, 69,604 candidates registered for the examination, representing a 1.8 per cent increase over the 68,342 recorded in 2024. Of the registered number, 65,752 candidates sat for the examination across 370 centres nationwide.

The breakdown showed that 32,005 candidates (48.68 per cent) were male, while 33,747 (51.32 per cent) were female.

A total of 235 candidates with special needs, including the visually impaired, hearing impaired and albinos — also participated in the examination.

WAEC disclosed that 61,943 candidates, representing 94.21 per cent, have had their results fully processed and released. However, 3,809 candidates (5.79 per cent) have some subjects still being processed due to errors traceable to them. The council assured that efforts were underway to conclude processing promptly.

Performance analysis indicated that 33,989 candidates, representing 51.69 per cent, obtained credit and above in at least five subjects, with or without English Language and/or Mathematics.

More critically, 27,727 candidates (42.17 per cent) of those who sat for the examination, obtained five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics. Of this number, 13,416 (48.39 per cent) were male, while 14,311 (51.61 per cent) were female.

Meanwhile, the council revealed that 1,899 candidates, representing 2.89 per cent of the total candidates, had their results withheld over alleged examination malpractice.

WAEC said investigations were ongoing and that affected candidates would be informed of the final decisions after consideration by the appropriate committee of the council.
