Man Commits Suicide After Girlfriend Ends Relationship

A young man identified as Israel has been found dead in Elebele community, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, in a tragic incident that has left residents in deep shock.

Sources within the community disclosed that Israel had been battling emotional distress connected to a prolonged disagreement and eventual breakup with someone he was deeply attached to. It was further gathered that the incident occurred on January 6, 2026.

Residents said that in the days leading up to his death, Israel appeared withdrawn and unusually sad, which caused some concern among people who knew him.

A resident of the area told Daily Trust that Israel was known to be a calm and hardworking individual.

“He was not known to be violent or troublesome. People noticed he was not himself lately, but nobody imagined it would end like this. It is a painful loss,” the resident said.

Family members were said to be inconsolable as youths and elders of the Elebele community gathered at the family compound. Traditional rites were reportedly initiated in line with local customs.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Bayelsa State Police Command, DSP Musa Muhammad, stated that preliminary investigations have commenced to determine the full circumstances surrounding the death.

He also disclosed that the Commissioner of Police in Bayelsa State, Mr. Daniel Iyamah, directed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the area to visit the scene, where the body of the deceased was discovered and later deposited at the mortuary.
